a collection of cufflinks

source : NY Times style Magazine, Samuel Gassmann ‘s cufflink story :

Gassmann offers red, blue, yellow or green, and he has four shades of each. He uses natural dyes, which are designed to fade. Within a few decades, each opalescent cufflink will be white; the initial color will linger in subtle lines engraved into the shell. “It’s the idea of the color,” Gassmann said. “This concept is more important than the color itself. To think of spending all that time making these colors and then knowing they will one day all be white, this is my huge pleasure.”
