color in architecture

Atelier 3d couleur, Jean-Phillipe Lenclos’ studio analyzes chromatic characteristics of regions to correspond variety of building materials to adapt to local weather conditions. The relationship of region, color and building material is concerned with the visual quality of architecture. First phase of the analysis involves taking samples of earth, walls, roofs, doors and shutters with natural substances such as moss and lichen. Next, all the collected samples are translated into paint color plates and classified and regrouped into panels for a color synthesis. The result of the field study and studio synthesis is used for an applied color vocabulary for each region. Both are combined to offer harmony and variety for a successful perception in human scale.
