tondo variation in red

by the late 70’s, bolotowsky painted “tondo variation in red” where he has eliminated the illusion of depth. he worked directly on the canvas in a process he described as intuitive.  “as i start dividing the canvas, somehow the divisions suggest colors. then i wipe them out, change proportions, and a different set of colors imposes itself.”
